Hi Guys
A friend has a metallic blue GT3 RS. Went through traffic in London this afternoon and waits at a pedestrian crossing - courier just bowls through at serious pace and nearly takes out a mother with toddler. No effort to stop whatsoever. Mate blasts his hooter at him as he draws near after the crossing clears and gestures to what he has just done. Cyclist completely unrepentant. Cyclist then catches him up at the lights and smashes the d-lock into his door. Psycho cyclist then beckons for him to get out the car. My mate is in his '50s and too sensible to get involved, he didn't pull the finger or anything - he was pointing back at the crossing going - did you even see that? I would have probably shoved the cyclists d-lock down his throat in his position.
He asked if I had a recommendation for someone who could sort out the damage and I don't. So as a favour and to ease his pain, I said I would ask around and get a recommendation.
Can anyway help with a name of a good respray/panel beater please?
Thanks in advance.
Alex

Sorry, can't help with a recommendation..but that story is crazy! I bet you if he had got out of the car, the cyclist wouldn't have been as brave. he gives cyclists a terrible name!
If someone did damage to my property, I don't think I would have the restraint to not get involved.
What part of London did it happen in?

He runs a GoPro and recorded the whole incident. Debated sharing it with plod but reasoned they wouldn't give a damn. He said the cyclist was about 6'2 and lean. Seemed pretty sure the cyclist would have followed through on any threat. If someone did damage to my property, I don't think I would have the restraint to not get involved.

Couriers on bikes and black cabs - both have the entitlement issue and disregard for other road users in London.
Happened on High Holborn, turning into Kingsway.

Tell him to post the video to youtube with description to catch the villain if nothing else works.
He is a judge as it happens and believes it'll cost him more in wasted time and stress than it would in producing a satisfactory outcome. That's why he is just looking to get it repaired and move on. Mutema said:

If a Judge thinks that, says it all about our criminal justice system unfortunately

Youtube and plod.
Disgusting behaviour. If caught on camera, he should definitely do something about it.
Not seen the footage but I think the field of view of the camera (centre of dash) doesn't show everything and when I spoke to him, he hadn't played it back to hear the audio to see if the hit registered. Disgusting behaviour. If caught on camera, he should definitely do something about it.
He may change his attitude when he gets the repair bill. Don't get me wrong, he was fuming but he is very calm and pragmatic. He said he'd rather have a ding to the car than get beaten up by some psycho cyclist and while hard to stomach, can see his view.

I think he is referring to the fact that proportionate to the effort required to bring a case before court, the cheaper option is to pay the repair and move on as hard as that is to stomach. He still has faith in the system but also has realistic expectations about the potential outcomes.

If he's in the legal profession, says the police don't care, and can't be bothered to report it, then crime statistics and resolution rates have no meaning. The culprit gets away with it and remains a danger to others.

I was sympathetic to your friend's situation until you said that. If a crime has been committed it should be reported, especially if he has compelling evidence.

I have probably done him a disservice in how I expressed that. When I spoke to him, he hadn't watched the video yet but didn't think it would show enough to be useful based on the angles. Think he will report it for a crime reference number + insurance and will turn in what he has but the cyclist was a fair distance away when he started threatening and he held back in case he tried to throw the d-lock at the car and do more damage. Based on what he thought he had, it might not be useful enough to identify the rider - he has a GoPro1 so not as high resolution and with windscreen reflection. He called me a few hours after it happened and was a bit shaken by the whole thing. He is no fool and will do the right thing. All I wanted to do was give him a few numbers to help him get it sorted.
