Morning peeps,
Still in process of sorting finances for my next 911 and have started casually looking at early 997's.
I have found a few good examples which I have added to my watch list, having said that it is difficult to pin down one to meet your exact needs as prices tend to vary.

So my main question what are the main differences between C2 and C2s other than the bigger engine?
I keep disregarding quite a few c2 as my thinking is the c2s is quicker so that is my ideal choice, but is there really going to be so much notable difference between the c2 and c2s in terms of performance?
what other notable extra does the c2s have?
Am I being too hasty in disregarding the c2?

Any owners comments on the c2 or c2s would be appreciated !

Not an owner, but have considered an early 997 occasionaly. For me it would be a boggo Carrera, not an S. By all accounts in the real world they are quick enough and ride far more comfortably on 18inch wheels.

Have you noticed how a standard 911 seems no cheaper than the S these days.

If that is the case it would have to be an S then!

Power and especially torque is king. Don't let those telling you about this 'real world' they live in put you off because everyone's world is different though just as real. Anyway it's a 911, if you're driving one you want it as quick as can be unless you're watching yourself in shop windows in which case you's have been considering a boxster wink

Try them both and see, but for me if I was considering boggo or s I'd always be thinking whilst labouring it up through the revs "wish I'd got an s/turbo/gt2"

A dangerous game to start. I begun on the same thinking, a few places down the ladder looking at early 996, then that progressed to early 997 c2 or c2s, then 996 turbos, then begun itching at GT2, then 964 turbo. Test drove a 996 GT3 and was blown away by it. A long story took a number of years but was part of the fun and starting my learning curve about the cars underatanding puracshe cost, servicing costs and depreciation.

My journey has only started but am already hanckering after another to add.

The searching is part of the expereince good luck and enjoy.

Thank you for the responses!
It is difficult to decide!
I have found a 3.6 with the majority of my desired spec however it is a c2 not a c2s!
Spoke to rpm tech which was interesting as the guy I spoke to said 3.8 can overheat and have engine issues where as the 3.6 tends to be a bit more reliable. This makes you think but ultimately won't put me off either as my 996 has always been fine and I know this had some negative views surrounding the engine.
When I find the right one I will definitely get an inspection carried out!
Also what are the options other than pse for 997, as ideally I would like to find one with exhaust modded already however if that is not possible would be useful to know how much I am looking at!
