996 C4S Service Schedule
Discussion
So, I'm so close to being able to afford a C4S.
I'm planning on checking some out next month when I'm back in the UK.
I want to send some questions to the sellers to confirm spec etc before I start traveling around the country.
Can anybody tell me the service intervals of the 996 C4S?
I just want to get them to check that all has been done on time and as it should etc.
Was there a "Run In Service"? I know when I was getting my M3, it was a very important service.
Cheers

I never leave it that long though. So much can change on these older cars...
Two years/20K miles should be a breeze for modern synthetic oils, even though I'm still old school and change mine every year with less than 5K covered. And what do you mean by "so much can change"?

Mine is an 03 MY so I get mine serviced annually. To be honest I only do around 6,000 miles a year but still have the annual service in order to keep the schedule up to date for resale and peace of mind
I think I would probably go down the annual route even if I had a 2 year service schedule as I see regular maintenance as more of a preventative measure.

Thanks for the answers.
I now know what to check when I visit the dealers.
Once I get one, I will decide how often to service it. I'm only in the UK for 6 months per year and will probably just use it for road trips etc.
I just lost an hour re-reading about IMS and RMS issues.
Does anybody know how many miles you would normally get out of a clutch? I'm only looking at manual cars.
It would seem a no brainer to do the IMS bearing upgrade/replace when the clutch is being done.
I have a nice long list of checks and questions.
Who can I get to do Porsche Inspections?

There's loads of scare stories surrounding IMS,RMS leaks, but nothing to worry about, the failures are small compared to the numbers of cars running.clutches tend to go at anytime depending upon their useage. A manual that has spent its life stuck in city traffic will toast its clutch far sooner than one that has had a non urban life.Buy on condition and maintenance, not neccesarily age and mileage.I've just bought one and I love it.Get the RMS and IMS done, when the clutch goes,up til then, just drive it and enjoy.Servicing up to 2003 in annual, or 12,000 whichever comes first. The knowledge says annual regardless.
