OK, so using on-line banking and want to set up a payment. Lloyds phone the registered number to confirm. Phone doesnt ring so payment can't be set up. Hmm, check number and its been corrupted so try to re-enter. Won't let me change it and anyway if I do it won't let me use it for 7 days.

Decide to call 'helpdesk'. Go through automated security and eventually get to talk to a human and have to confirm identity. She cant help and transfers me to on-line help team. Go through security again. He can but won't change the number and wants to post me a pass number so I can ring up with that number then he will change it. Seven days later I can use it. Flatly refuses to change it as he 'doesnt know who I am' FFS they have asked me 3 times various security quaestions and I offer to answer any security question they like to prove identity. No can do. Muppets, right royal, first class, medal owning twunts.

So, made them register a formal complaint and in response to a demand for compensation they offer £42 to settle the matter. Er, no! Its not the money It's that they refuse to get how bonkers their 'processes' are and how every interaction with them drives me insane.

Just wait unti they give all your money away from all of your acccounts in one to a Mr Mouhammed Ackmed Raja bin laden. All done over phone banking, even though you have specifically asked that Phone banking is never, repeat never to be used.

I think that its quite an easy mistake to make considering my name is Roger.

Wonder why that doesn't work in titles. I have no useful comment to your predicament, in fact I only came onto this thread to check that wk was in the swear filter.

You can write any swear word into a thread title so I'm lead to believe. Wouldn't advice trying it though.

hehe Excellent.

I've never actually had a problem with Lloyds, but I can't help but feel that no 1 bank is better than the other confused

Ha ha ha, I pretty much had this several times over - including going to visit them in branch to sort it out, suffice to say I'm now banking with First Direct after having been with Lloyds for the last 23 years! - oh yes, and I got £120 out of them over the space of several calls!

First Direct answer my calls pretty much within 2 rings, I can speak to a 'normal' UK human being and any issue is sorted out with a minimum of fuss - unlike Lloyds!

£22 for a phone call! Were you calling from a satellite phone?

Either that, or he pays someone to kneel on all fours. I only do my finances when seated on a human chair, a psychological power bartering technique I picked up in the Congo.

First Direct are really good. A survey on Moneysavingexpert shows they are well ahead of the rest.

I've just gone back to Lloyds . . . (branch banking, nothing online or telephone) - decent service and I get 3% on my current account which is more than either of my ISAs!.

HSBC pleasantly suprised me - out joint account is there, I wandered into branch to sort out a minor problem, didn't even make it to the counter . . . guy in a suit intercepts me, takes details, says he'll sort it out, different person rings me in the afternoon to confirm resolved.

My number was corrupted at one point as well.
Actually I think all of them were, I added some extra's in just in case.

But yeah, their fault they bust the number. You are not alone.

Really, does the account type have a name so that I can refer to it at my branch?

I'm getting nothing on my Lloyds business account and only 0.05% on the business deposit account.

'Classic' Account with 'Vantage'. Pays 1.5% £1-£999, 2% on £1000-£2999, 3% on 3-5k. Normally I'd have hoovered any spare cash into my ISA, but the current account pays more even after tax deducted. Handy for small(ish) savers like me having a good couple of years.
