Discussion
This is often discussed on the forum, with many people being given extortionate quotes from supplying dealers.
I have done some quick research with regard to motor policies that include new for old replacement, thus negating the need for a separate GAP policy. So far I have found:-
Liverpoll Victoria (also sold by Nationwide). Vehicles under 12 months old will be replaced with a new one.
NFU Mutual. Vehicle up to 24 months old will be replaed with a new one.
Hope the above is helpfull. If anyone has more to add then please pitch in.

This is pretty reasonable: http://www.ala.co.uk/vehicle-replacement-insurance...
A mate of mine took insurance with Admiral and the policy clearly said he had new for old cover. His new Evoque was stolen after just 4 months and Admiral said new for old was only where a write off happens in an accident situation. He lost three grand as a result.
Because of his experience I bought gap insurance and resisted the Audi dealers price of £499.00. Being a bit anal I did some research on-line and also found it much cheaper. That said, the policy terms and conditions were very different between all the brokers. I did consider ALA but didnt find their policy terms an conditions anywhere near as favourable as the one i finally bought. It was about ten quid dearer than ALA but for me that equates to three quid a year and for the policy I got I was well chuffed. I used www.car2cover.co.uk. There were some crummy basic policies out there some with loads of exclusions. So, do your research and you'll save a bundle against your dealer policy. Anyone recommend a good TT owners club?

These guys seem very reasonably priced, appears quick and easy with a very straight forward product. http://www.gapinsurance.uk.net/
Also http://www.car2cover.co.uk/ - £50,000 cover available, inception can be deferred by 12/24 months, tracker requirement only comes in at £75,000 which I think is higher than normal.
