What's it really like?

I've just accepted a job starting in June in Inverness so will be relocating from Dundee.

Just looking for any tips/pointers, area's to avoid e.t.c?

I'll be renting initially (Which if any PH'ers have a flat/house or know of anything going c£500pm, up to 600!) please to get in touch!

Coming from Dundee you'll feel right at home in the ferry I would think.hehe

On a more serious note, you won't get much other than a 2 bed flat for that sort of cash a month. Are you coming with family or on your own?

ETA

We were in number 3 in this block when we moved to the town from up north, nice enough but not all that big.Pretty quiet and there's shops nearby, there's also a pub right on the doorstep but we never heard much noise from it in the 6 months we were there.

Cheers!

Moving up on my own to start a CA training contract. Budget can't really increase (for the first year anyway!).

Will have a look into the flat you posted. I'll be working in Cradlehall, so anything within walking distance would be ideal!

Funny you should post that! Emailed about it earlier. Shame there is no internal photos! It's a bit of a trek doing Dundee > Inverness > Dundee to view 1 flat!

Aye it's a bit much, there's not all that much to see in those flats either,we stayed in one just the same in Murray Terrace for a short while too.

Actually,if you can find one for rent in Murray Terrace or Miller Street or maybe it's Miller Road can't mind now but the flats are all the same anyway so you would have an idea of the basic layout if there's photos on any of the adverts.

Cheers!

Will need to get myself along to a PH meet or something. I've got an Auntie and Uncle living in Inverness but apart from that I will know nobody!

Smithton is fine up where the flats are,we were there for 6 month before moving to a bigger flat just down the road in Culloden.

We had no problems other than the fact that the flat was damp,I got the feeling most of them were.

There seemed to be a lot of new people to the town up there, like us.Most of the folk that have moved down from my home area were in Smithton first.

If I was choosing I would opt for Towerhill. Certainly closer for you to walk to your work. Only 1 bed but closer http://www.hspc.co.uk/details.asp?id=46847

Stop moanin, perfectly good pub at the Kep. Hhmmm organise a Inv meet at the Kep so the lad can get to know folkies once he moves.

That sounds like a plan.

The Towerhill one I've emailed about so hopefully hear back tomorrow. Not needing it until end of May/start of June but may view it this week if possible. I have a feeling I'm going to be sick of the A9 by the time I move up.

What's the general consensus on Murray Terrace? Yes or no? Seems nice and close for work!

Murray Terrace is where I was talking about in the above post.Check very very carefully for damp if you go for a look at any there.

Goodness sake, thats the start of my postcode!

I have lived there for about 16 years now (well, studying in Aberdeen now but still) and found Cradlehall to be a lovely place. No problems at all, and same goes for Culloden where I went to high school.

We should get an Inverness meet / run sorted soon, there seem to be a few of us up this way!
