CHild Trust Funds - F&C - Increased Charges
Discussion
I've just got a couple of letters from F&C in respect of my children who have their CTFs with F&C in the Shares account.
F&C are introducing new charges - only £25+VAT per child per year, but this works out at an additional 0.75% pa charge based on the amounts currently held of about £4k each. It seems quite steep to me (0.75% in addition to any other charges which I think means, in total, charges of about 2% pa - might need to check that though). I also think the "+VAT" bit is a bit dishonest - why not be upfront about it and say £30?
So I wondered if anyone had any ideas of other options to which I could transfer the existing funds and as a home for future payments? For the time periods in question (my children are currently 4 and 6), I want it to be shares not cash. I would rather pay low fees for a tracker-type of fund than higher fees for the debateable added value of active management.
Thanks in advance.
