I purchase the OPC extended warranty and so annoyingly when my battery went flat 2.5 years ago i had to buy a Porsche branded battery. I purchased my Porsche battery from RAC, they only charged for the cost of the battery, not fitting and so were much cheaper than OPC.

Fast forward 2.5 years and the battery went flat but RAC replaced the battery for free - RAC offer a 3 year warranty on all batteries they sell, even Porsche batteries. Porsche have so much confidence in their own branded batteries they sell and offer a 1 year warranty. It's a no brainer...

RAC were fantastic for me when my battery went last year. I was parked in town on the street, came out of a DIY place with a pile of stuff for the house, along with the guy from the shop who helped me carry it. He made some pleasant comment about the car, then went back in. Can't think what comments they made to each other in there when I couldn't start the car, with a dead battery....

Worse, it was my own fault as I had been having problems starting the car but had been putting off getting it sorted.

Anyway, luckily I had RAC membership so called them up. They were there in 10 minutes, diagnosed as I thought that the battery was shot, had a suitable Bosch battery on board with a good warranty. They fitted it, got rid of the old battery, and still only charged the same price I would have paid in my local car electrical place. Great service.

I get the point of your post and it's a great tip but it's worth pointing out that all Porsche parts carry a 2 year warranty, including batteries.

But if RAC do it cheaper and with additional year warranty, indeed no brainer, and free fitting to boot...sounds too good to be true!

How much if you don't mind me asking, would be good to compare to the bosch prices.

I think I paid around £150ish, although it was over 2 years ago and my memory is a little hazy.

Personally I wouldn't have bought a Porsche branded battery, it's only because of the warranty. The new Bosch batteries have a far better reputation and are cheaper

Careful! I'm not sure Fisher Price would be too keen on hearing that accusation.....
