Under hard acceleration from standing start clutchless gear change to second it ssometimes drops out of gear.

This isnt a false nutral as I can feel the gear engage and a bit of drive then it drops out

dosnt happen all the time but when it does its very embarasing

any ideas? just me being crap? chain tension or problem? or they all do that sir.

ps this is on private roads of course

I'd check the chain first.

I can never bring myself to clutchless change 1st to 2nd. Just seems a bit harsh on the bike.

But then I'll never be a racer as I have too much mechanical sympathy.

I thing that could help is switching the gears as race bike.
That's better because you got more power pushing the level down than pulling it up. Especially when you are hanging of in corners...
Normally it is quite simple to do this. I've done it on all mine.

Kick it harder........ Or hold the pressure with your foot for a second more but to be honest why kill the box from 1st to 2nd.

What revs are you changing up at?

I always use a very light touch of clutch from 1st to 2nd and then clutchless after that.

I always use the clutch to change up to second, then clutchless for the rest. Mine often doesnt go into second if im not careful.

no probs today. deliberatley held my foot there for longer and not once did it drop out.

Changing gear at around 10- to 12k or when the limiter remids me (usualy the case as I am concentrating on other things )
I have to remind my mates what puny bikes they have dont I Mu ha ha.

When I first started wheelying and changing from 1st to 2nd with the front in the air I found that it dropped out of 2nd if I wasn't trying hard enough. You really pay the price when you get a neutral when the front's 2ft up and thus, I learnt very quickly that you either have to be VERY positive from 1st to 2nd when going clutchless (oo-er) or (if not wheelying) resort to using the clutch since making the gearbox leap over the neutral gap is a little harsh (but my race bike loves it ).

Check the tip of the selector isn't worn. It's shaped like a claw and is the lovely little bit that rotates the selector drum. I've fixed one previously by tack welding the tip and filing it back to shape.
