My brother and I bought a pair of S4s to race in Australia.

The yellow one is his, and is in running condition. It's got a 711 block in it which is not eligible for historic racing, but is ok for regularity events. The plan is to change that at some stage.

The red one is mine and hadn't run for at least 8 years. I'm going to get it log booked and race it, so the engine, gearbox, diff, brakes and suspension will be done now. I currently live in Hong Kong, when I move back to Oz in a couple of years I'll strip it down and do the chassis and body.

So.... Before Xmas it was engine and box out

Realy nice engine!
What power output are you expecting?

Another question: Is historic homologation papers available for the S4?

Some really beautiful work going on here, but it also raises some questions..
What is the break/clutch pedal setup, and what is the blanking plate on the side for?

Some detailed description of the cage would also be interesting. I will make one this winter and it will have a removable front section. I guess you guys will have a fully welded one for racing.

Keep up the good work!
Also back to my earlier question; does the S4 have historic FIA homologation papers or are you building to a local class spec?

Would be nice to hear what you think of doing to the brakes (except for the mystery black box/pedal combo)

Inside the black box is a Tilton top hung pedal box, we made our own throttle pedal. I'll get some more photos of the setup when the car comes back.

Exhaust is done (apart from tail pipe to direct exhaust away from the rear tyre) - tuned length based on engine builder's specs. Burns Stainless collectors and muffler - very nice stuff
Roll cage nearly done (but no pics yet)

Looks like a solid rollcage.

Could you please give me the measure from top of the front rollbar to the dash? I realy like the angle of the top bars. It gives the car a more agressive look.

I am thinking of doing something similar to this, but with the front removable. I will also include removable sidebars. Its a project in the distant future...

You guys are doing a great job, the cars look great. Busy with my own S4 and was looking for some information about the coil springs. Do you have dimensions? Free length, no. of coils, ID, wire dia. Bought Spax dampers but not the coil springs. Got a spring manufacturer who will coil some up for me.

The yellow car has Spax shocks, the Red one has Konis. Both are using 260 lb/in front and 104 lb/in rear based on another racer's recommendation.
