Nothing whatsoever to do with cars but someone on here will know how I can get his.
What I'm after is directors names for a number of companies, I've got the address stuff from the companies house website and in most cases when I call the switchboard they give me the info I want. However some don't. I know I can get a list of current appointments for £2.5o per company but that will soon add up over time and I'm tight so wondered if there was anywhere else I could get the info.

Any ideas?

TIA

D.

I personally think that the best way to do this is to buy the data from Companies House, you can open an account with them for directly accessing the data from the internet yourself. If you are going to have a high usage I think you can get discounted rates.

Another alternative is UK Info Business from ICD publishing. Check out the website at www.192.com but at £275 it is not exactly cheap and depends on how much usage you are going to get out of it.

There are other companies that offer credit checks and company details but I think they end up being a lot more expensive.

I personally would contact Companies House to see what their discounted rates are. Lawyers and Accountants usually have this account set up and they check everyone willy nilly so it can't be costing them a lot of money per usage.

Sorry don't know any "official" ways of gaining this info but was taught a couple of tricks when I worked in sales for a short time.

Firstly, depending on the size of the companies you are targeting you could ask for a comapny brochure/prospectus. Many larger companies list this info there in my experience.

Secondly, many companies don't like giving out info cause they think they will get bombarded by marketing info therefore, depending on your ethics.....a collegue suggested calling the company in question and pretending to be a uni student doing a study and was interested in the company. Gatekeepers would then be more relaxed as it isn't a sales call and give the info up. I admit never doing this one cause I had issues with it but it might work.

Lastly, ask to be connected to the sales team/tech support or something, then the person you get through to tell them that you have been misdirected and you just wanted some info. Then ask away, sales guys will probably give you the info cause they won't question it so quickly.

I'm glad I only worked in sales a short time (I was too nice to be any good).

Just to add, another possible info source that may be suggested is CorpData.

In my experience don't use it.

The info on the disc isn't cheap and also isn't very up to date or accurate. It will tell you the basic company info but not a lot else. As you already have this info don't use this source.

You could try www.equifax.co.uk and look for the business services. They are a credit checking agency that some business use. You can run a credit check on the required company and get the additional data that you require - plus finding out how big a risk Equifax think they are....

They can provide names, addresses etc of key individuals of most companies (worried? well it is public data after all) and should be able to tell you of other related links etc....

Wont be cheap though - check first.

Cheers,

Paul

If the company is publicly quoted they have an obligation to supply a copy of published company accounts to whosoever asks for them. The directors should be listed together with their remuneration.

I used to walk into Companys House in Cardiff and look up company details on their Micro Fiche system, there was never a charge but I gave up such exciting things some years ago and perhaps things have changed.
