Any friendly vx220 owners aberdeen...
Discussion
Hi guys,
Slightly random request but here goes...
I currently have a westfield which I've had for a couple of years now. Done boyndie, alford and Fintray in it but other than that it's not seen much use. This has been partly due to some reliability problems which are all sorted now (touch wood!)
Main problem being the lack of roof and needing to put helmet on etc as it runs an aero screen so pretty unpracticle. I've managed to take it to work a few times but end up having to leave pretty late as I can't start it up until the kids are up etc otherwise it wakes the whole street
Wife also hates it which whilst that doesn't bother me...it would be nice to be able to head out for a run it it with her when the kids are at the grandparents etc.
Love the car to bits and it's certainly fun! c195bhp and weighs 560kg but can't help thinking something like a vx220/elise would get so much more use and still allow me to do a few sprints etc. Elise likely to be out of my budget for a decent one though. Main worry would be that it would be a let down performance wise! The N/a seems to appeal more than the turbo as if I was looking at a turbo budget I think I'd be looking at an elise! I prefer naps power to Forced induction anyway.
Here's the strange bit...Are there any vx220 owners in the area that would let me see if I even fit in? (I'm 6' 4") and maybe have a nosey at the car to see if it could be a viable option to make the move?
Cheers,
Dave

Dave, I'm sure you could try my VX220 out for size. Its supercharged, rather than NA or Turbo (its actually preferred by many regular track-day go'ers due to its power / torque delivery) and its not standard in other respects, but it should give you a good feel for the car.
PM me if interested.

Cheers for the replies guys.
From what I've read a n/a one with the supercharger strapped on is the best option which I would go for but would probably have to settle for plain old n/a initially. I've read that the n/a car is the better option over the turbo for a base anyway (may have picked that up wrong so happy to stand corrected)
Main thoughts are that I would be able to use the vx220 SO much more than the westfield but the worry was that it would be a let down from the westfield seeing as it has close to 350bhp/tonne.
Not seen any supercharged modified ones for sale but I'm guessing they'd be similar to turbo money? Realistically only be looking to spend about £8.5k for a well sorted car if I changed.
That would be great to get a nosey at your car if you didn't mind Ross - will send you a PM.
Cheers,
Dave

If a 6'5" tall person fits then you'll be ok.

Met up with Ross today and the answer is... Yes I do fit (just!)
Hard top fitted so I guess slightly better with regular roof.
Big thanks to Ross for taking the time to meet me and talk me through the car etc - much appreciated and the car looks great!
Still undecided what to do but think I'll try and get a run in a standard car as that will be the deciding factor... Whether it feels too slow or not!
