I'm not sure how many of you are citizens so will be voting, but we now have the date of the election.

I can't see Guillard staying after all the issues, but is Abbott a viable choice?

This will be my first chance to vote in a national election for about 11 years, I am compelled by law to turn up and have my name noted on the register, and yet I feel no desire to vote at all. I really cannot see how either of the two leading candidate have anything to offer over the other. Its just so cringeworthy to watch Gillard or Abbot, and Tone's my local Federal MP.

The only MP I've seen that has any statesman-like qualities is Malcolm Turnbull, and I'm not sure how he would have gone down with the Aussie public outside Sydney or Melbourne.

This is my first time voting as an Aussie and I must admit, much as it pains me, I'm in an AOA situation (Anyone other than Abbot).

The alternatives may not be hugely palatable either, but they beat the country being thrown any further back into the 1940s than it already is...

A pox on both sides, but having said that I will be expressing my opinion / wishes on the day. No point complaining and not trying to have a say in the result.

I lived there last election. My vote went to the Sex Party.

Abbott is a disgraceful man. A hideous specimen. I dislike the current government on a number of issues, but nothing approaches the sheer visceral hatred of the likes of Abbott, Christopher Pyne and the like.

If they had more of a true liberal approach, like Julie Baird etc I would have no issue with them. As it stands they are just playing on the what's in it for me vote.

I'll be a citizen by April, so September will be the first time I've voted since 1993 in the UK.
I'm looking forward to voting itself, but not looking forward to choosing.
