I've got €1000 to exchange. Anyone got any tips for the best high street rate?

Preorder with Travelex and they will match any better rate you find.

You might find a local PH bod after some Euro and you could swap at spot rate...

I recently found mytravelmoney.co.uk which 'compares' the whole lot (it seems), some of them I wasn't aware do travel money at such good rates.

Perhaps my OP wasn't clear.

I have €1000 in cash.

I want to exchange it for Sterling.

Does anyone have personal direct experience of the best value I can get ON THE HIGH STREET????

I use CityForex - they deliver the cash to the office door.

If it's a 1,000 euros is a few points either way going to make that much difference? Probably not going to be a tenner in it. I would be off down the post office, currently 1.144 rate according to this

Fair point, I was wondering if anyone had used somewhere recently that was great value is all.

That rate is for them to sell me Euros not to buy mine, isn't it?

Yes, this http://www.postoffice.co.uk/travel-money?campaigni... suggests you would get around £880.

For €1000, you will get about 820GBP on the high street. I think the above quote is if you are buying €1000

Just in case anyone else needs a similar service, CityForex do cash transactions. You call them up, agree a rate and a courier comes to your office and you do the switch. They also offer electronic transfers.

If I'm over that way then Banca March on Eastcheap also offer great rates on Euro transactions.
