Quick noob question, after a bonus in 2000 i invested approx £1000 in 200 shares in Whitbread I then forgot all about them as divs were paid into bank acc.
Looking through letters whilst shredding some documents i see that my 200 shares are now only 64 holding, is this because of Whitbread buying back their own shares and redistributing or some other foo.

Possibly a share consolidation, so they'll have gone up in price by a commensurate x3. Call their registrars, their details will be listed on their website, probably under "investor [that's you] relations".

Looks like at least one consolidation in that time, with a special cash divdend.

The registrars should see you right for the cash too.

Thanks for replies. my 64 holding is correct, they also had a share consolidation in March 2001.
