Portfolio review

I haven't added any new photos to my portfolio in almost six months.
Now I have some time I've decided to give it an overhaul and that means getting rid of the unnecessary stuff.

I would really appreciate if you could tell me which photos do you think are just OK( or st ), bring nothing new to the port and I should get rid of them. Mainly in the "PEOPLE" section.

When you hover over a photo it shows you the filename, I guess this is the easiest way to do it.

Also, If anybody knows better gallery plugin for Wordpress that doesn't crop the photos I would be very grateful!

I used a plugin (awesome flickr gallery) that just links top my flickr and I built a set there...

I fully recognise I am throwing stones in a greenhouse but here goes. You refer to a portfolio so I thought oooh I'll go take a look. I was expecting say 12 pics at the most, edited to port standard with a consistent style. So initially I think there are too many pics for a port. To help to whittle them down it looks like more than one pic has come from the same shoot. Probably best to pick just one? You might want to subdivide people into portraits, fashion, glamour or whatever rather than mix them up.

Decay and rebirth
One more wet foot moment
Taylors mistake
Sattelite communications redit
wave surge
Shagpile seascape
Summer Night 4
Little Hagley Park

Those are the ones that don't make me go WOW as opposed to the rest.

I'm glad the gallery cropping was brought up in advance, as my first thought on the animals was that the crops were awkward, and not in a deliberate tension creating way, they didnt look properly framed! There's a load of themes on themeforest.net that would be worth a look, and simple enough to upload and edit

On the People, I thought they might be included under Everything Else, but fair enough if you want them in their own category. That whole glamour, portrait, headshot thing is a world known only to models and photographers - I dont think the general public will undertand the nuances of them. That's probably only relevent if you're aiming at non photographers and models I guess

There's a big difference in the style of the photos between models and non models - it might be better to separate out one from t'other somehow, or rationalise which you really want in there and which you dont. Nudes for example sat alongside a streetscene jar when viewing as they're not congruent. On the subject of the modelly ones, they feel a bit portrait professionaled - how are you editing skin? D+B or filter? It feels as thought there's been a first pass at a frequency separation but the sharpening side hasnt come through. On the whole I like how you've lit them and edited, skin's a bit of a bugbear of mine

You could do a port of head shots, one for glam, one for more full length / fashion, one for street. At the moment they are all jumbled up and I'm not sure what your 'selling' or your style is. In addition for port upping the editing detail would make a big difference. Some of your more glam shots are much higher impact 8024, 8069, 8288, 8356, 8428, 9145, etc hence the suggestion to break into genres

I use http://www.prophotoblogs.com for my site www.scottamurray.com It's not free but I really liked
the way it handled galleries. It's pretty customisable as well which is handy as I am planning a redesign when I am not swamped with work.
