I'm confused about what's happening at Brands Hatch next weekend (29th/30th). Could someone please confirm once and for all that the GTs/GTOs will be attending, as there seems to be different info wherever I look. Brands seem to be saying they'll be there but the various GT Championship timetables don't mention it.

I'm hoping a friend from the US, who will be in the UK next weekend, will be able to experience her first GT races and obviously we don't want to go along to find they're not there!

Any advice would be appreciated, cheers!

Thanks for your reply Viper! I did check there. The weird thing is Brands Hatch told a friend of mine on the phone that the timetables on the websites are wrong and the GTs will be there next weekend alongside the F3s. The GTs are also listed on the Octagon Motorsport online booking system at http://tickets.sportscogroup.com/, even though they aren't mentioned on the event details on the actual website page.

Hence my confusion!

There will be no British GTs at Brands this coming weekend. It was decided that there were too many rounds too close together and Brands Indy got the chop. Sorry to you and your friend.

Arghh!!

It's a pity, that, as I liked the Indy round last year -- from where we were sat in the stands we could see all the cars pretty much all the time (but not all at once )

Thanks for that Simon. I think I can take that as the definitive answer since you'll know whether you're due to be driving next weekend! ;o)

Am disappointed as that was my only chance to get to a meeting this year too. Will just have to continue keeping an eye on the championship from afar! I do think Brands could do with a call for apparently giving out misleading information though. The GTs are mentioned on my friend's ticket - she will still be going to enjoy the other races.

Regards.

BLAST!

So...are the Tuscans on the bill? We might go anyway but I'd been hoping for a GT/Tuscans line up...

Simon's right, of course. When the original schedule was announced the GT teams (quite rightly, I believe) made a song-and-dance about too many meetings too close together. The orgainsers did cut the numbers, but left more of the races intact at the start of the year (when teams are invariably missing because cars aren't ready or budgets are late) and huge gaps mid-summer, when the kids are on holiday and the weather's better. Ho hum.
As a possible reward there are mutterings about running the Snetterton race as a two-hour with refuelling. I hope it happens.

So, disappointing to see that the GT's are not going to race, but who's going anyway to see the Tuscans?

There'll be an old bloke racing in the Tuscans this weekend. My Dad. He's out in Nigel Tustain's car for a one-off. He hasn't driven one for a couple of years so will probably be a bit rusty. Support appreciated...! Gaffer and I will both be in attendance also, albeit in the stands and not on the grid...!
