Just a word of caution to everyone going through these cameras. I read somewhere that in the midlands where they had SPECS set up they caught more people over the week-ends and at night than during the day. I am assuming there was no workforce on the road during this time and people must have assumed that because there was nobody working on the road that the cameras were switched off. I can fully understand the need for speed restrictions whilst the workforce are on the road working but if they remain on when nobody is in sight you begin to wonder why, unless bollards need to be placed making driving above a certain speed unsafe due to drastic lane changes.

You have to 'wonder why', people would choose to speed through any speed camera,on the 'assumption' it would be off. Mouthbreathers!
The risks don't vanish when the working party retires for tea and medals. There are still wonderfully soft things to hit, like plant, incomplete barriers, open excavations etc etc should the unthinkable happen.....

From what I remember a number of people objected to the fact they were caught at 3am on a Saturday night/Sunday morning with the entire road deserted and no work going on. So I guess they did perhaps have a point.Mouthbreathers!

Assuming that the roadworks, the existence of the cameras and the reduced speed limit were all properly signed, then what was their point?? I can't see it.C5RagTop said:

yeh saw the covers were off going northbound today but not southbound. Left me wondering whether the uncovered cameras were working. Hopefully not!

Camera not in use signs went up today sometime between 10:30am - 4:30pm. Sign suggests 60mph limit which is no different to what it is.Steve
