Thinking about attending as a spectator later in the year.

Anyone who has been, is it worth the trip? And where is best to stay, B&B in town? If we go, we shall be having a few beers so wont be driving home same day.

Yes its a great spectacle especially if the sun is shining like it was this year. I was competing in it this year so I am not sure about general spectator entry costs or anything but the crowds were big and everybody could get a good view, especially if you stood near the startline with the cars doing burnouts just a few feet away. Accomodation wise anywhere in Brighton will be OK as the event is right in the centre on Madeira drive. I will hopefully be competing next year with two different cars.

Brighton Speed Trials 2013

The Brighton and Hove Motor Club, the organisers of the annual Brighton Speed Trials, held on Madeira Drive each year have decided not to stage the event this year. This decision was taken following advice from the City Safety Advisory Group who review safety plans for major events staged in the city.

At last years event there was an incident which resulted in the passenger in a ASCO Honda being fatality injured. Enquiries into this incident continue and the Coroner is yet to hold an inquest into her death.

Representatives from the Brighton and Hove Motor Club and Brighton and Hove City Council, met last week and agreed that it would be unwise to host the speed trials until the circumstances that led up to the incident are fully understood and the Coroner has reported her findings.

I had no idea, thanks. frown

Looks like it'll be a quiet day/evening in Brighton, followed by all the bikes to look at on Sunday (Brighton burn-up) then.

Really? I was there last year. What a show!. I mean it wasn't the safest of courses to run. A few powerfull cars nearly lost it but didn't hear of an accident.
