So I seem to have managed to buckle one of my front wheels. I was starting to get a bit of vibration through the steering at higher motorway speeds so took it in to get the wheels balanced this morning.

I have been informed that one of the wheels is buckled as it was bouncing up and down on the balancing machine. Does anyone know if it is possible to get this repaired and if so where?, or is it scrap?

Thanks Jim

It may be worth a call to The Wheel Specialist and have a chat with Vernon. They are based in Segensworth. It'll be difficult if the wheel is in effect oval rather than a dent in the rim. Are you running run flats?

I think Jim is on Vreds. RF's are a risk in themselves.

Jim - depending on how bad a buckle we're talking here, it might not be repairable. Different places will say different things. The alloy needs to be heated up quite a bit to try and reshape it and sometimes they don't take too kindly to it and can break.

Yeah eddies right, I got rid of the run flats for this exact reason. I put vred's on which have been great. The wheels on mine are BMW 313's which have a reputation for these sort if issues.

I will go see vern and see what he says as he is only a minute away from where I live. If no good I can't be arsed with spending £550 on a new replacement and then having it colour coded in grey etc only for it to happen again.

Time for some nice BBS or HRE's I think??!!

Well I have done the only manly thing there was to do, bought a whole new set of wheels!! Arriving monday! Thanks for the advice chaps. Didnt fancy all the hassle of getting it sorted or replaced and re coloured etc for it to happen again. The new wheels should be a fair bit more durable and I have wanted them for years!!

Haha! Man logic! may work out cheaper in the long run as they should be a bit stronger! Got some BBS CH-R's in Anthracite coming my way. Roll on next week!
