Only skimmed through but quite interesting info about the water injection and how much extra power it unleashed from those engines, wonder if there is a clever person who can calculate the best point in the induction pipe work to have the water injecting to have the best effect.
My nozzle is in the intake pipe about 30cm before the throttle and 10cm after the intercooler... Ish, maybe it should be in the 90' end tank bend with the nozzle pointing straight up the pipe for a better spray.

There are different trains of thought on this, and mostly dependant on what you want it to achieve, as in primarily lowering intake temps or supressing detonation for example.
The main areas are pre turbo, pre intercooler,post intercooler and close to throttle housing, and all have a differing effect on the intake charge and hence the effect on the engine.

From what i have read the main advatange of water injection is insdie the cylinders rather than in the inlet track. Obviously if you are not running a intercooler (like on most WW2 aircraft) it will reduce intake temps. The key thing from what i have read with water injection is its ability to slow the flame front down. This reduces the chance of dept and thus allows the engine to be pushd harder with higher intake manifold presures, more ignition timing, leaner fuel air mix or hgiher comp. ratio.
WRC is the best example of this i have seen. These guys use indavidual injectors per cylinder and actually map the water injected into each cylinder. This allows them to run very high intake maniolfd presures and high comp. ratios without blowing the motor up.
