I have a long weekend off for once in about 4 years (Fri-Mon) and want to get out and about with the camera so am after some suggestions for locations to visit and photo.

Would prefer scenery/wildlife to city scapes and such so am thinking Lake District, North Yorks, North Wales areas but unsure of 'photographic' locations.

So it's open to the floor for suggestions......

I would say (from my experience of the Lakes & North Wales) just turn up and the locations will be there in front of you.

Too wide a range of areas to be specific. It always pays to source your own locations, not the well worn “tourist” spots, to get that something different.

Would guess that Mullen and Carter amongst others should be able to help with at least 2 of those.

Too many choices!

But if you go up the East Coast why not try Whitby Abbey.

....it apparently has the bones of some good images......

I’ve used this photo map location finder a few times, but its work in progress (I've added some myself too). http://www.mapmyphoto.co.uk/photographylocations

Otherwise I use Flickr and Google maps to see what’s in a particular area. I’m happy to give you directions to places if you see any on my Flickr you want to visit. (I'm at the Lakes again this Saturday too). smile

If you're coming to North Yorkshire you've got loads to go at;

Yorkshire Dales, around Malham / Settle etc - big vistas
York - old architecture, plenty of opps for street photography if that's your bag
North York Moors - big vistas again. Keep an eye on the weather, this weekend is meant to snow and some of the roads get closed / stuck.
Whitby / Scarborough / Filey - general landscapes and seascapes

Give me a shout if you want more detail, or have a look on my flickr, www.flickr.com/markmullen where everything is geotagged.

If the lakes then;

Derwentwater, Ashnessbridge, Honister pass, Grasmere, pretty much anywhere!
