Yes. Hang on to I. You'll need it at year end to make sure youve paid the right amount of tax overall.

Ok cool thanks. I'm not really up on these things, I don't want to start paying loads of tax on my main job!

Rather than start a new thread, I just received the P45 Part 1 that the employer should have sent to HMRC. What should I do with this Part?

It's obligatory these days for employers to send P45 details to HMRC electronically - so the part they gave you isn't really relevant. Did they give you the "Employee's Part" as well?

Ah! Thanks, Eric. Yes, I got that bit as expected. I just wasn't expecting to see the first bit.

The payroll software I use no longer generates paper copies of the "Employer's" and "HMRC's" P45. It only generates the paper copies for the Employee and new Employer.
