Matt Fox's utterly bonkers twin Yamaha R1 engined Mini is up for sale again - it's on ebay here

Shame it's still only done 500 miles - wonder why he never drives it?

My life! I know all about the car and of course it is very, very special, but £24k Plus.......

Love the email adress, you'd need a mortgage to pay for it!!!

Especially seeing as it was, maybe even still is, advertised for £24K here.

I'd give him £18K for it I reckon, if it wasnt completely undriveable.

Not with twin engines - you can get a the parts for a single R1 engined car for 10k, but I think you're looking at more to get it built - this car allegedly cost 36k to build - it's loaded with carbon fibre everything and a 6k Stack dash IIRC

Oh and I did think you'd be tempted Matt - but wasn't intending to get you shot

brilliant idea and all that but it just is too much especially after seeing him at the castle combe mini day last year and spinning in a straight line when he put his boot in. wouldn't mind a single engined one though

To put an Auction on like that with a 24K starting price, will cost him over £100 each time he puts it on.... Ouch.... and the Reserve price thats higher would be another £100 Bigger OUCH....

£3500 for the kit. 2 x R1 engines = £2000
£1500 for any extra parts needed
£5000 at most for a mini
£2/3000 doing it up

Less than £15k easily. I dont know anything about this particular mini, but i wouldnt pay £24k for a twin engined mini.

That's how most paople (myself included) think before starting a project. Do yourself a favour and ask them again afterwards...

Just a small point, the twin engine kit is over £10K on its own.

The Quaife transfer box is also massive money.

Its worth a lot more than £10K but probably a little less than £24K.

You never get anywhere near what a special or race car cost to build unless they are alot of people wanting that particular combination to race or play with. I was one persons crazy idea to put all the expensive bits together but another person - thinking - hmm nice combination I wouldn't mind one of them but would not pay the cost of the build and bits to do it. i.e. most race cars or this type of thing go for MUCH less than the build cost often below half. He may not shift it even for 10k unless it is exactly what someone ones on the day with the cah burning a hole in pocket!

Fair enough, in one respect it is worth 24k, and I would love a drive. But seriously, when you start talking serious money, twin engines, from an engineering point of view are a bit of a Heath Robinson solution. Great for knocking up a cheap autograsser, but with that sort of money why not just use one bespoke engine and drivetrain. It would make a lot more sense.
