Gopro won't turn on

Have just purchased a hero2 working fine straight from the box, plugged it in to the computer to activate the wifi unit now it doesn't turn on. I removed the battery then put it back in the camera comes on but no functions work or you can't switch it off you have to remove the battery again. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before. Thanks in advance ian
