In an un-related thread, Barkychoc said:

As I have a brand new Servo in my garage ready to install this year (when it's a bit warmer and drier), it got me thinking about how I was going to do it.

If anyone has replaced their Servo, can they please advise if I 'have' to disconnect the brake lines or can I just do the above and avoid disrupting the Brake hydraulics?

I am presuming that because of the 'arm' that attaches to the Brake Pedal, I will need quite a bit of clearance to get the servo out.

Not a huge amount I wouldn't have thought?

the arm is flexible where it goes into the servo and once the mounting studs clear the bulkhead the servo can be angled upwards which may help?

Is it an original Saab one (extremly rare ) or a ford replacement ? If you are replacing the Saab type with ford then the bolt pattern is differant and some fetteling is required also the Saab master cylinder is not compatable it fits but your brakes will be stuck on, if on the otherhand your replacing like for like its a simple nuts and bolts job access is limited but not impossibly so, 4 bolts in the footwell a split pin and clevis pin on the pedal and 2 bolts on the master cylinder.

Gents thanks for the info.

Mikel, I think it is like for like (Ford) as the reservoir is on top so hopefully no drilling necessary. I will really only know when I take it apart.

Norman, excellent info. but far too much to take in after enjoying watching my team beat Newcastle. I will have to re-visit when I get round to doing the job, and havn't been drinking all night!
