Fuji XP50 Alternatives? Waterproof camera for £100?

Ok, so maybe this should be in the Lounge as i'm more Lord Lucan than Litchfield, however.... bear with me experts...

My main camera is the one on my Blackberry. Yes I know. I have two plastic 35mm waterproof cameras from Asda or Morrisons (i forget which) which I use for beaches, pools, sea etc. As you can gather, i'm not bothered by massive quality, huge resolutions, lots of spec, just want something I can take anywhere (sea and sand) and use.

Saw this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fujifilm-FinePix-XP50-Digi... actually in Currys sale for £100 which seemed decent value. Reviews on amazon are patchy though, so are there any similar priced waterproof reasonable spec cameras?

What are you going to be using it for? I've got that one (or maybe a predecessor the XP30, I forget) and it's fine for surviving rough and tumble in the rain and dirt, as well as taking photos in daylight, but for low light shots it's awful. I find my phone camera is better for low light, I guess it's due to the amount of plastic protecting the lens.
I can't offer any alternatives I'm afraid, but if you're just going to take photos in daylight then the one I got is fine!

Interesting thanks, mainly days out with kids, we do go to beach a fair bit and biking too, I guess the flash wouldnt help much in general low light conditions.... I suspect you are right given compromise caused by protection

I've got the older brother, the Z33WP. It's been a good little camera. You can pick them up quite cheaply on fleabay. We've had some good underwater pictures from it and it's small enough to just throw in your pocket for when out and about.

I've had four waterproof cameras fairly recently and the only one which takes reasonable shots with good colour balance is the Panasonic FT10. Might just about scrape into your price range now.

Found the XP50s bigger brother, XP100 at Jessops for £100 delivered..... arrived this morning, impressive piece of kit, hopefuly get to try it this weekend if card arrives for it.
