Their sales pitch for macro photography is hilarious. They see an insect, they set up their tripod and the camera facing the bug, run away, pick up iPad, spend 10 seconds trying to focus on the insect, zoom in, spend a few seconds fine-tune focusing... aaaand capture. Yeah good luck getting many live insect macros like that .

That said, every other use might be good. I'd be interested to hear yours thoughts.

Opposite situation for me - I took some photos as a Christmas present for somebody else!

I gave two of my photos as Xmas presents. I'm half way through my second family yearbook (ran out of time in the run up to Xmas). I didn't get anything photography related, but I do have the green light for new gear in 2013, when finances permit.

DSLR Controller on android does much the same if you have a Canon, it's surprisingly good.

A £5 lead and £5 Android app has got me something very similar for my SGS 3 - I can use my phone to control the camera (albeit not wirelessly.) My budget equivalent.
