After all the negative publicity recently surrounding the 996, I am happy to report a faultless near year and a half of trouble free fun with my 996!

Now I know may will not believe it, but it didn't leak oil, it didn't snap its main shaft, and the engine didn't eat itself...

It put a massive smile on my face every time it drove it, and I would tell anyone thinking about buying one, go do it!

As long as you're sensible in what you buy, and buy on condition and history, you're minimizing any potential problems as much as you can, then there's a very good chance of buying a truly great car.

After a 928, 2.7 & 3.2 Boxster, the 911 has been the best of the bunch.

Sad to see it go, but I will definitely recommend one if you get the chance, and they'll never be better value than they are right now!!

Might be seen as a daft question, but seeing as the Boxsters are seen as great, why exactly did you prefer the 996? Please don't just say, cos it was a 911 wink

Is that Zenith blue? The way the light hits it, it looks more like cobalt but I have never seen a 996 mk1 in cobalt...

Yup, Zenith blue. Think the filter may have changed its look slightly maybe. Lovely colour on a 996 me thinks!

I have a new company car now, but quite fancy an older classic to tinker with for 2013. Not sure what as yet, but funds are now in place, so as soon as I see it, I'm in a position to buy.
