Hi
Have been using a CTek 3600 on a 10 month old Bosch S5 battery in my 997. Today checked all was ok and noticed that the maintenence light is on permanently and the charging light is flashing rapidly! I have reset the charger and within a short period it is doing exactly the same. I can't seem to find any info in the manual supplied with charger as to what the issue might be???
Anybody give any advice please?

Can't help I'm afraid but, there seem to be quite a few battery queries getting posted all of a sudden.
Is it just me or are many people dusting off their P&Js for a Christmas day hoon, only to find their batteries dead after the cold snap?

My 997 battery died the other day with no warning at all - fine one day , dead the next. RAC said just worn out, but cold snap had been final straw even though I drive it several times a week.

I found this trouble shooting guide http://www.mdsbattery.co.uk/kb/article/AA-00117/0/...

It says the following:-

is lit (flashing rapidly) simultaneously
Explanation 1: Bad connection
Test: Move the clamps and make sure there is no loose connection in the quick connector, Comfort Connect.
Explanation 2: The charger is working in the desulphation phase
Test: Leave the charger to charge for 24h (with some supervision). If the charger does not start charging (one of
the LED¡¦s are lit) within 24h the battery is in a very poor condition.

Thanks for info. Although my led's are lit the opposite to this I will give it 24hrs to see if desulphation is/has taken place. Not good for a 10 month old battery however.rolleyes

Have checked battery voltage this morning. 12.28 V with no load. 11.83v with headlights on. This is after a full charge. I think Battery may have a poor cell. Charger is on another car to check charger function but likely will return battery today. wink
