so I bought a leg of lamb the other day, and im looking for some inspiration on how to cook it.
never cooked a lump of meat before except for a lump of pork in the slow cooker with cider.
any stuff I should cover it in and/or marinade in it.
my dad is going to be eating it and hate rosemary and anchovies so those are out.
and it weighs 1.5kg so how long should i cook it for? again, never done any meat in the oven before apart from sausages, so dont know what time to do it for.

Oven tray on hob, bit of oil and butter, sear meat to get some colour on it. Lift meat out, chuck in a trivet of carrot celery spud red onion. sit meat back on it, cover in a bottle of merlot, two spoons of redcurrant jelly and 4 cloves garlic. 2ish hours at 140 ish, get a meat thermometer and when the middle of lamb is 60 degrees C its done so lift it out and cover. Blitz whats in the tray and reduce to make gravy.
i'm going to try the slow cooker with my leg of lamb.
smear it in olive oil and some rosemary, and pierce with some slithers of garlic.
pop in the pan to brown off for 5 mins, then into the slow cooker with a glass and a bit of red wine, and cook for 7-8 hours on low.
hopefully it will work ok
