996 C2 carseat fresh thread
Discussion
Hi all,
it's now the end of 2012 and most of the threads out there for child seats in the rear of a 996 are rather stale.
I was looking for a front facing seat for a 9-18kg child who can now sit by themselves. The official Porsche seats looks a bit dated and expensive. Following the lead of one site I focussed on the maxi-cosi range and the maxi-cosi site has some suggestions for the rear of a 996. As I happens I already has a Maxi-Cosi Priori SPS seat sitting in the rear of the 4 door family car and indeed it does fit in the rear buckets. To gain space I also removed the lower part of the seat and the backrest too by following the instructions found by googling "996 rear seat removal". You will need T25 and T40 bits/screwdrivers to complete the task - I would recommend that the T40 is on a socket set to get enough torque to get it freed.
It's quite a nice seat, it reclines so the little one can sleep without a lolling head.
Here are some pics:

Note: seat was not fully in place here.

A closer look with seat properly in place.

View from the door (it's in a LHD car as you can probably figure out).
Hope it helps, the 996 is not a bad proposition to those with young families as sports cars go!
/MK
PS Wrote "car seat" instead of "child seat", sorry
