Hi,

I bought a 997 Carrera 2 S 05 40k from a local Merc main dealer on Nov 13th. The car had apparantly been through their workshop for an inspection however since then it has had a new clutch at Porcshe paid for by the dealer after it slipping which thety were told about on test drive.

Yesterday I went to top up the oil and there was Gunk in the oil cap. I work in the trade and our lads have confirmed my suspisions tell me its due to moisture getting in the system.

The car is not a daily driver and they believe it could be as simple as a oil change, run once a week (as there has been nearly 3wks gap in running and car is parked outside)and keep an eye on it. If the gunk come's back then it could be issues else where.

Any help please would be appreciated the car is not due a service till next Nov.

Google "yellow mayo" issue and there is a ton of topics on this. It is completely normal, generally comes about from short journeys and condensation build up. Just get a cloth, wipe it clean and enjoy the car!

Yes as above. Nothing to worry about as it is just caused by short trips.

The workshop lads said the same that it will be due to the cold and wet weather andnot being used enough.

Should I get a oil change then?

It wouldn't hurt but you probably don't need to.

Condensation forms in the neck and mixes with oil vapour only, you oil and water aren't mixing.

Take it for a good run with the oil at operating temp for a while and it will sort it smile
