Double Yolkers

I've just had a box of tesco large eggs, and 8 out of 10 were double yolkers! I've never even seen a double yolker before today let alone having this many in one box.

I've heard your more likely to see them from farm shops, but 8 out of 10 in a pack?!
They all looked slightly odd in the shell, slightly larger, thinner more brittle shell.

They're a lot more common than people think, dunno if it's due to farming processes but I had a pack 6/6 double yolkers.

I sell those, I asked the supplier why ,apparently they come from

How does the farmer/supplier know they are doubles? Shine a light through it..?

You haven't seen the size of these eggs, often too big for their boxes.
These ones are not sold in any supermarkets because of this.

As said in my opening post, these were all from the supermarket, they were only slightly larger than the 2 normal ones in the box

An acquaintance is a chicken farmer and he claims to be able to recognise a double yolker from the shell. Slightly different shape IIRC.
