Considering that the ebay auction thread and phillpots earlier thread are both to raise money for a first class cause, St Richards Hospice I think the Mods are over re-acting.

And this is what they are causing to disappear.

When does some advertising become ok and some not ok? The rules on advertising for personal, commercial and charitable gain must apply to one and all in the spirit of fairness. Occasional charity promotion is allowed depending on merit, usually when the poster has had the manners to ask first.

The rules of posting 16 clearly states:- you will not

Promote charity events or recruit for charitable donations.

We will not set a precedent on this topic, many charitable threads in the past have been removed for the same reason.
