You should be able to afford one apache old boy, especially after you saved all that money at Le Mans by ducking your rounds

The only bloke at Le Mans who ran his Griff all weekend on £3 of fuel!!!

Great cars, very under-rated. Introduced about the same time as the F365GTB/4 (Daytona), just as fast and much more reliable being a hybrid of Italian design and American (Ford Cleveland I think) powertrain. A few years ago I saw a totally restored yellow car (with matching yellow/blue piped leather interior) up for around 30 grand. Would i like one in my garage?.....you bet I would!

there is a red one for sale in the back of this months classic and sportscar mag.

5,000 miles since race / road 6.1L litre engine was rebuilt, looks the dogs danglies and wait for it £18,000!

Sell the Griff and buy it, you know it makes sense.

Don't know anything about those at all, except what they look like. Interesting for the money! Wouldn't it be a bit like the old Miura - looks great but has dubious handling and reliability? Some older classic 'supercars' can cost a bomb to keep going. Might be wrong, but just a thought...

As others have said above, the combination of Italian design flair and big relatively unstressed American V8 power should mean they are not as prone to going pop as some, with cheap engine bits too. The stuff I've read says handling is pretty good too. I'd love a GT5 Gp3.

The official importers site is www.detomasouk.co.uk

There are some 2nd hand cars on there. As far as the engine is concerned I believe it is a 5.7l Ford engine so maitaining one shouldn't be much of a problem (in theory anyway!).

They are stunning cars IMHO, i'd love to have one.

The Le Mans spot sounds like the car I travelled down in convoy with - assuming that dark red translates to maroon. It's owned by a guy called Colin Bradshaw, but I don't think he's a PH'er. It's in immaculate condition and well sorted - to such an extent that it left a 355 and Griff 500 in its wake on the way down ... oh and it regularly lit up those ridiculously wide tyres on the various Le Mans hooligan strips!

It's a great idea using a reliable big brand engine in something interesting. I', not sure how a 70's car will handle Ruf power levels though. Interesting!!

I'll mail Colin and see whether he's got any piccies - and I'm sure he'll be happy to send you some more info on the car.

Cheers
