Best "cheap as chips" digital camera

Grandparents are giving the kids money for Xmas,and rather than letting them splurge it all on sweets,I want to get etthem a cheapo camera.£40 is the budget,I know it wont get a lot but dont want anything too expensive,just maybe to get them into taking pics. Seen the coolpix L25 at Asda for this sum,are there any other places/cameras?

I use an older Coolpix for photographing cars for work (no point in having 25Mb files from my usual kit for web use), it has soldiered on for the last 4 years or so, does exactly what it is meant to, gets chucked around in my desk drawers and is still working really well.

keep an eye on aldi and lidl, they have digi cameras quite regularly and come with a 3 yr warranty at aldi.

I think a 17y/o might want more than a £40 camera though.

Very likely but I have already spent a fortune on her,this is just from grandparents-better something nice than having her just waste the cash
If she gets into it I can get her something better at a later stage.
