Another vote for dogcam, a couple of years ago they saved my mate around £400 based on his use.
(he did need the advanced features)

Hi All - I am interested in the GoPro aswell but its too expensive for me.

I was wondering what else to go for - I have seen some on fleabay but - err - well.

I want one for road driving mainly - not a sporty one - just something to catch out the idiots.
