UEFA Cup to be ditched - Euro Super League on the way

Must admit - I quite like this idea. It will give the 5/6/7 teams the opportunity to duke it out with the likes of Madrid, Barca etc which can only improve them.
And history shows that teams finishing around that level in the league tend to chop and change a bit - rather than us having the current 'closed shop-ish' Top 4. With the format of the UEFA Cup being quite gruelling for not much reward, a single top-tier competition seems like a winner to me.

Of course you do, you'd stand a chance of getting in to the CL again.
In reality its a stupid idea, the CL is already bloated to double the number of teams would devalue it further.
I think the old knock-out format is archaic, personally. Nowhere near enough big games - it belongs in the past.
Would I be right in thinking that doubling the size of the present competition would only result in two extra games if the group sizes were the same? Okay there'd be double the amount of groups - but all you would have would be a single extra knock out round layer.

Would you go back to the European Cup - league winners only - straight knockout competition?
It's a dream, but it will never happen for financial reasons. With that format not only do you need to be brilliant technically, you need to play for the badge with all your heart and soul. You would never see jokeshop clubs like Chelsea and man city winning this competition.

5 Scottish teams? Are they having a laugh? Do we really want Motherwell in the Champions League? Idea sounds ok but how about 9 English and 3 Scots, would make it more competitive!
Seems rediculous to me that a team that finishes 9th in there domestic league can have a shot at being champions of Europe. Crazy!!Would anyone like to see a mini-super league?
So they take the winners only (limit it to 10 - 12 teams with playoffs if needed). Then every team plays every other team once (home or away is luck of the draw).
You either crown the champion as the team at the top or as per super league, have the grand final deal with the top 4 in a play off.

The champions league is bad enough as it is, dead games, playing for draws and worst of all,the fact that you can come fourth in your domestic league, and then be crowned Champs of Europe.
The original European cup for me,all proper teams and proper games.
Same here, Champions league should be for champions. IMO, just a straight knockout, no seeds, so first round could be for example, Man U v Barca. Uefa cup for the winners of the cup comps, and perhaps runners up and maybe 3rd place in the league. The original European cup for me,all proper teams and proper games.
I don't like the sound of this new proposal, but I suppose with the large difference in revenue between the 2 competitions, its almost inevitable.
