Not being mean or miserable... Please do show us the same photo in 6 months after the winter of use with lovely tailpipes, they really are looking the kiddy !

Like I said, takes some commitment to keep them looking like this (had them on for 2 yrs now, this photo taken last week).
Winter of use...are you kidding ! It stays in here over winter

Yes Autosol but if they're very dirty I'd try a white kitchen scourer (not green!) with Autosol first prior to trying 0000 wirewool. It might just be enough bite.
The other secret is to seal them once clean. A high-temp wheel sealant like Wheel Seal and Shine works well http://www.planetpolish.com/index.php?main_page=pr... It then makes cleaning them a 30 second job.

I normally use Autosol if they are really bad with build up.
Don't know about anyone else but there is that much black soot that comes out of my exhaust pipes (Cayman R) that as soon as mine are clean, one outing and the edge of the sports exhaust pipes are covered with soot which looks awful!
I tend to just get some tissue and brush round the edge of the exhaust to get it all shiney again if the car is clean... otherwise I just leave it until the next wash!
