Was just thinking,
Nine times out of ten, when I log onto the internet my first stop is www.pistonheads.com. Now, usually i take this for granted..... it's just after all another car website... one of the many TVR/Lotus/General Motoring sites I regularly visit.
However going by the theory that you never really miss it till it's gone, the last couple of weeks when Ted was away taking a sabbatical I really missed the daily stream of information that PH provides me with.
My "Autocar" (I'm in New Zealand) and "Prestige and Classic" have long since been cancelled due to the fact that i'm paying 30 quid per year to get their publication when I get it on here for free! only here the information is more recent, better presented and delivered with a smile.
PH is definitely my one-stop shop for motoring info and general chit-chat about the cars that keep the worlds motoring industry from being so mundane and static that it starts to grow green furry stuff all over it.
So, my fellow PistonHeads faithfuls, will you please raise your glass and join me in a toast to the great and mystical PetrolTed, the bloke whom so few of us see but who makes every PistonHead's day just that little bit better.

Good on ya Ted..... this pie's for you.

I'll now go and have my lips surgically removed from Ted's arse.

I agree, Gassing is excellent and I am usually in there (oh err) 2 - 3 times a day.

Does anyone use any other forums???, I go on the MCN forum but its not as good and I need to waste more of my working day and evenings.

Ted, many thanks for everything, well done.
As you can see I'm on here regularly as it's just the best!
Others are bad to worse or worst... and the slagging one gets here is relatively good-natured, not like some sites I can speak of....... At least we're not being shot down by PC barstewards who alway speak of Yanquistan instead of USA,,, and the Isalamic Peoples Republic of West Hartlepool ....

Totally agree, although I've still no idea why I came here in the first place. Ted, will you be in Surrey on Sunday ?

Yes, excellent site. Unfortunately we have just moved offices and my new desk is open plan I guess I will have to limit my time to early morning and lunchtimes from now on.

Nah. Just make sure the window is quite small with something similarly coloured in the background that you can click to if someone comes over. Works for me

TED!
a suggestion.... seen it on one site..... a Boss button top left of screen which opens a ficticious spreadsheet about costs of marketing, for all the people with an openplan office! Doesn't apply to me I'm me own boss....... If I find it again I#ll point you to it!!!!

Or how about a text only, no colour version .... easier to hide on screen ?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Nice to be appreciated

In answer to your questions:

- Sunday I'll be at Castle Combe hopefully burning to a crisp in the sun as I watch the GTs/Tuscans

- I did consider a non colourful version of the GS but the adverts would still be a giveaway unless people were prepared to stump up for an ad-free version.

That's one thing that's a pain in the arse with going on holiday - no PH. I'm getting addicted and finding myself nipping in there on sunday evenings now. 2 weeks away will be ages without a fix.

This is easy anyway.. (nerd alert ) on your links bar in your browser just specify a local document (word, excel etc) and as long as you have the browser plugin it will load it up immdeiately.

Certainly am, for my sins. Drop me a mail, if it's urgent, or I'll mail you my mobile no' if it's really urgent.

Always happy to put something back in Ted...as I'm sure a number of other people would be.

Hear, hear!
Yes, please ask should you have any queries about skiing, battleships or drumming. My very patchy knowledge on these and other matters is at your disposal...
