Hi,

We're staying at the Marriott this weekend for my girlfriend's birthday with a wine tasting course at Wickham vineyard. We'd like to visit a good fish restaurant tonight but can't find any locally! I know of a few good pubs around Bursledon and Hamble area, but none of them have a good list of seafood available. Just the usual fish and chips and fishermans pie.

She's a particular fan of oysters by the way, so that would be a good selling point of any local restaurants!

Any help?!

Thanks,

Dan

Oops, title should be good FISH restaurant.

Mark.

One of the best restaurants in the area and at Wickham is Vatika. I'm sure they would do you a great fish dish if you asked them. I have been there several times for special occasions and nothing is too much...

Correct. Didn't realise. Shame as it was a great restaurant.

Certainly looks it! Will definitely look up his restaurant in London as we're often up there.

Well, it's not that close but JSW in petersfield is one hell of a place.

Best time to go though is in the week as they a do a deal which is £185 for two and is a five course taster menu with matching wine for each course.

The best bit is that on this deal Monday to Thursday you get to stay the night and have breakfast. It kind of works out that u are paying £15 for B&B for two as the taster menu with wine for two is £175.

It's also a Michelin star restaurant

Will bear that in mind next time, sounds like a good midweek deal.

Ended up at Wickham Wine Bar. Very good, great service and good food. Had tapas, stuffed squid, mussels, prawns, bread, olives etc. not quite oysters, but delicious nonetheless!

Ah is this the place that has the resturant at the back. Isn't it separate to the wine tasting bit?

Or am I thinking of whickham winerary?

I've heard this is a good place to go to.

Only just down the road from me over the bridge, its opposite the Red Funnel terminal...

Yeah, you're thinking of the winery, different place.

We went to Wickham Winery/Vineyard today for a wine tasting course and a meal. It was lovely.

Wickham Wine Bar (we visited last night) is in the square and is separate, not linked.

Although not too bad, there are plenty of better places locally imo. I went last week and to be honest, the food was a bit 'holiday'. i.e. cheap salads and chunky chips.
