The Smisby Arms (about 1.5 miles outside Ashby). Nice grub.
Thanks

No probs, never tried Zemani's, even though my office is on the same street(!), it is apparently decent though. Only downside is the street might be full of drunken youths on a friday evening.
Ha that's quite funny actually as every time I drive through Ashby I think "What a nice quaint little town" hence deciding to eat there later."Ask" (italian on Derby Road)

George Inn, just out of town

Glad you liked the Smisby, I think it's pretty decent too.
For anyone else looking - The George Inn, as mentioned above, has always been excellent when I've used it for family gatherings. Only about five minutes out of Ashby. Nice little spot and equally unpretentious, but good quality and good food.
