987 Spyder Boxster (2010/11) Bucket Seats

Having decided I want a Spyder and preferably with bucket seats, does anybody have bucket seats and uses a child booster seat in the passenger seat?
I know I can have the airbag deactivated but am struggling with the booster. The current booster seat I have, which is not very big, will not fit in the bucket seat.

With all the usual caveats about not relying on this e-mail (i.e. I am not giving you any advice only telling you what I have done) I have a Spyder and bought a Recaro car seat which works for us. It fits in and is securely fastened. If you are struggling to find anything, I will dig out the model number. I had the airbag de-activation with in as well (about £500 from memory).
TimboMint - I really have no wish for the sports seats, but if needs must I will have no choice. Having run a Vx220 Turbo with car seats fitted, against what it says in the manual, i would have no issue fixing a seat in the Spyder bucket seats, as long as I was happy with the fitting.

Why do Porsche state car seats shouldn't be used?
Must be a reason.
One of the reasons I went for sports seats ( the other reasons are documented on here) as my 7 yo son travels with me regularly.
The airbag should also be left on when using a booster seat.
I went for safety over vanity.
To keep with the Spyder ethos, I assume you're buying one sans a/c and radio?
Yes, the buckets look nicer - that's indisputable, but if you have to cut corners so kids can ride in it perhaps its a case of heart ruling head and not the correct car to have.

If you can find me a car in white or black with no climate, no radio, bucket seats, pse, sport chrono and sport shift, then I would consider buying it.
The last 10/12 cars that I have seen for sale have all had climate and radio added. The chances of me finding a car without radio and climate is slim. As I am sure you know Porsche only made about 110 manual Spyders, I may have to compromise on certain aspects.
My VX220 Turbo has no aircon, no radio, no electric windows, no carpet, no heater, etc etc. I have never missed them and am unlikely to miss some of them in the Spyder.
I also believe that not having climate and a radio would hamper any resale and affect the residual value.
If it was my only car then it would not even be considered, luckily it would be a third car and I can be selfish.
If I can find a suitable seat that fits well and is secure then I would have no problem with using it with bucket seats. If I dont need to turn off the airbag even better.
I can see the pluses for sports seats but they are not for me, unless I have absolutely no other options.
I am enjoying looking at cars and chatting with all you enthusiastic owners, makes the prospective purchase feel even more special

Well, there is (or at least was) a fantastic platinum silver, manual, buckets, pccb car for sale.
I know the previous owner ( as do a few on here) and the current owner is active oh here.
I know you said white or black, but the platinum looks stunning in the metal and a certain change from the ubiquitous white ones...

at what price ? as that spec is rare as hens teeth but I happen to have one and with PCCB's as well :-)

I use a booster in mine on the odd occasion the little one comes out. It was a cheap tesco one I think but the key part is that it is narrow enough to fit in. Seat belt loops nicely under the arms of it. Only problem is that the seat is too low for him to see out of the front window.

If you're talking about mine it's actually arctic not platinum but in my very humble opinion it's (probably) the best looking Spyder I've seen. I know the previous owner ( as do a few on here) and the current owner is active oh here.

Sorry if I caused any confusion, my comment about worms and cans - in an open state - was a reference to the comment that the leather seats may not be the perfect spec for a Spyder.
I've noticed that threads on the Spyder tend to become debates on should you have this or that fitted. Some mention of the 'Silly roof' is often dropped in there as well.
Personally I think you should do what you want to get the car you want. As I said above the Spyder is worth going for. I was lucky enough to borrow a new shape Boxster(is it 981 - don't know for sure, honestly - don't care) and it was a lovely car to drive but I'm not sure you wouldn't get the same from a new MX5 (though slower). However IMHO the spyder is a very special car. If you find one that nearly fits your spec, buy it and modify it as needed.
It also occurrences to me that your family should also have chance to enjoy it, with the price of fuel etc. it's could be that your son will not get to drive machine like the spyder.
