Schumacher was nearing the end of his programme when he crashed heavily
Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher suffered a major accident in testing at Monza today when the left-rear tyre of his Ferrari blew out at the end of the start/finish straight. Schumacher hit the barriers with the front and rear of the car, but appears to be uninjured.
Has the development gone too close to the edge - it is ceratinly giving Max Mosely plenty of ammo in his drive to cut performance.
I think the problem is not so much with the tyres but the construction of the cars. They have a "small" nudge and bits of carbonfibre body are all over the place.
Design the cars to survive a 20 mph impact with a lamppost at any point on the body without leaving bits all over the place.
