OK - the technical terminology escapes me at the mo.... But if you go somewhere in "Preferences" I think you need to give LR permission to "do more faffing around on your hard drive".... ( is it Scratch Disk"?)

I think 'faffing' is a perfectly good bit of technical terminology wink

Only thing I can see is the space available for Cache. I've bumped this from 15GB to 100GB.

Yup - that's what I was thinking.... "cache", "scratch disk", "space", "computing power"...it's all the same to me. Just needs more room to do its thing, I suspect.

How are you getting on now - has that worked?

The message hasn't come back since changing the size (thanks) so I'll see it happens again. I must admit that LR has been open for a few days and the message popped up when I wasn't even using it - was just open in the background.

Full of autosaves maybe?

that's quite likely: LR likes to "catalogue" itself on a regular basis, for example. It's just trying to be too clever for its own good.

I've been known to tell it to "go, catalogue yourself" several times in the past until I have been working with 8Gigasheep of RAM.

Could be auto saving - I've got 8GB on the machine anyway and LR3.6-LR4 still slower than LR2 which was on a much lower spec machine
