Hi, what's the thoughts on the Cayenne Turbo S 2006 model year?

Is it worth paying the extra "Turbo S" premium over the standard turbo model and also accepting a higher mileage on the "Turbo S" model opposed to a standard Turbo, seems you have the issue of the larger front disc's/pads from a service perspective so only Porsche parts available at this size. Is the extra HP really needed over the standard 450bhp. Was there anything else on the Turbo S model over the standard turbo model apart from the bhp/brakes, thinking more along the lines of trim and options?

Interested to get some thoughts from current owners, as I'm actively looking for a car currently.

Hi mate,

I've got a turbo s model, and to be honest I est drove both and my car does just have the edge on it. 521bhp over 450bhp is a reasonable difference.... However is the turbo slow? Not bloody likely!

In the end I bought an S, because it turned out t be the right car in the right co,our with the right history and spec, and that is what I would buy yours based on. The s had basically everything thrown at it in spec, mine has got heated seats front and rear, parking sensors frnt and rear, rear view camera, dvd players, remote pre heating system (which is great!) plus full porsche service history. Comared to the turbo the mpg difference is negligible, I average 18.5mpg.....

They are both great cars, me I didn't want to buy a tab and then wish for a turbo s, but it was the spec and condition etc that solved the problem for me!

Thanks for the info, that is a very high spec model you purchased. Rear camera and remote heating! Not seen any with those on yet.

Hello Griff Boy,

I have been seriously thinking of swapping my ml280 cdi for a Cayenne Turbo for a while now.

They are amazing value and there is a nice one local to me in the right colour for me too (non s).

The mpg is the only thing that has stopped me buying one.

Over the last 18000 miles the ml is showing 25.8 mpg.

You say that your cayenne shows 18 odd mpg but what mileage Is that over?

That would be acceptable to me given the superior car that the cayenne is. I think my mpg is poor given that the ml is slow and cumbersome.

Cheers

My wife's Turbo S '06 has averaged 18.2 mpg over its 40,000 mile life. Combination of long motorway trips at high cruising speeds (which are easliy maintable versus other cars because of the tremendous torque reserves) and very hilly / twisty short cross-country trips.
I think you'll find that most Turbo S come with all the tasty bits as nobody spending 100k on a new one was going to economise on extras.

Brake pads can be had from Mintex and all the brake parts are easy to get as they are Brembo / VW.

Are there after market front discs available for the turbo S, I've seen the pads and calliper bolts and dampers that are around.

The original front discs are a two piece unit, very different to the standard turbo disc.
