On the door jam is the tyre pressure plaque. I've checked & double checked the tyre sizes & specs & see that it wants me to pump the fronts to 37psi & rears to 44psi. That seems mighty high & it feels great on smooth Tarmac, but a little firm elsewhere.

Have I got this wrong?

Correct pressures for 997S.2 are 35/40 F/R

Not generally on the later cars, only difference is with loading of car.

Sorry, yes - those pressures are correct for the 19" standard-fit 997S.2 wheels, any other Porsche option wheel of the same size and for the Carrera Sport wheels that are 1/2 inch wider front and rear, with the slightly wider 305/30 rear tyres.

Not sure if anyone runs 18" wheels on a 997S.2 (IIRC they were only used on the non-S) and I don't think 20s were an option.

Depending on your driving mix, you may want to be slightly lower at 33/38. My last set wore roughly 1.5mm in the middle than they did at the shoulders, at 34/40, suggesting slight over inflation.
My driving is 50% motorway 50% urban, and the more motorway (high speed) driving you do, the lower you may want to drop the pressures.
Also if you're checking them at lower than 20C you need to drop a couple of psi out.

I've got 87Y on the font which has a different psi of 37 and 100Y on the back and says it requires 44 compared with 34 & 40 psi respectively for tyres not with this spec.

May drop it down a bit on way home then, providing the tyres aren't blown! wink

I had a 997.1 C2S and I seem to remember that 33 Front and 39 Rear (with the 305's) were just about perfect!
