Hi all,

I need a new pump. I have a Topeak CO2 pump. Can I figure out how to get the CO2 part to work? Can I fk! This leaves me with a crappy little manual pump which is no good to anyone.

I found this all out when I got a puncture last night! Fortunately, for only the second time ever on my commute, I was actually riding along chatting to someone else, who lent me his pump, and I now want something similar. It was (I think) a Lezyne hand pump, with the pull out and screw on flexible tube thingy.

All nice and easy to find, I thought. Until I looked on Wiggle and discovered there are lots of different Lezyne pumps which all look much the same, yet range in price quite significantly. What should I be looking for? Are there similar pumps from other brands to look at?

I'd be using it with both road bike and mountain bike.

Genuine Innovations Second Wind (mini)...had mine yonks. It's CO2 & a pump also. Carbon fibre barrel & pretty sturdy. Can get decent pressure in without cartridges but with co2 it inflates in seconds.

Is the Lezyne significantly better than a Topeak Pocket Rocket? I cant seem to master getting enough air in with the Topeak without breaking the valve. Ideally it'd have a separate pipe to avoid movement causing it to break but I need a new pump and dont know whether to go down the C02 route or just buy another hand pump.

^ Lezyne pressure drive does have a separate pump - one word of caution, if you have removable valve cores you can unscrew them accidentally, which is embarassing. Other than that, I use one as my only pump, Presta and Schrader compatible, gets to >100Psi fine as long as you're patient.

I was amazed at how quickly this one I borrowed got my tyre up to a decent pressure! My expectation would be that it would get up to something I could just about ride home on, but in fact it took very little time to pump up, and I hardly needed to top it up at all with my track pump when I got home. This was to get a 700x23c tyre to 120 PSI.

loctite on the valves the day you get them is the only solution because lezyne pumps WILL unscrew the valve core! i have a topeak pocket rocket master blaster which gets things up to 100 psi easily enough. its a bit fragile feeling but its ok.

I'm obviously missing something here. If you put Loctite on the valves, how do you unscrew them to get air into the tube?

some tubes have two piece valves so you can use the same tube in different wheels with varying rim heights. unscrew the original valve, put the extension on, voila....

All of the Lezyne Pressure Drives sold in the last ~6 months have had the new air bleed system which means no more unscrewed valve cores. But then again most inner tube have fixed cores so it's a moot point

You can even buy the hose alone

Just bought one from my LBS. Could've saved 10% on Wiggle, but prefer to have an LBS.
