Two amazing looking deals - are they?

I presume you meant getting a bargain bike IN winter as opposed to a bargain Winter bike? If it's the former then I'd get neither - my money would probably go on this:

planet x every time, loads of riders in local and national events, great value for money and good enough for some seriously fast riders who choose them rather than being paid to ride them...
off the peg tt/tri bikes are a joke, they are just cashing in on the current triathlon craze.

It has nothing to do with that, just a strange thread. Also tt bikes are usually bought on different merits to road bikes, weight not such and issue, more all about the tested speed of the bike. The one I've got is meant to be one of the quickest setups out there but reckon it wil weigh quite a whack when it's finished. Also.. TT bikes come with cheapo training wheels As you are expected to put your own race wheels on it. low profile, high profile, really high profile or disc wheel.. all different setups depending on weather and route conditions of the day. So if you are looking for a dedicated TT rig, then get the most aero frame and start from there. Aero is facinating and look to the Tri world as the arent held back by the useless UCI regs and rules...

Having had a slightly heated debate on this topic previously, I now agree and will be getting a Planet X Stealth when SWMBO is in a good mood. off the peg tt/tri bikes are a joke, they are just cashing in on the current triathlon craze.
The BMC looks fab and no doubt could make a few seconds difference in the right hands/conditions but its major money. Do a spec comparison...
incidentally I read somewhere that the Fuji isn't actually that aerodynamic, it looks a little full-fat/borderline ugly to me.

Because - with all due respect - it's a daft question, brought on by "Shiny Bike Syndrome". You're asking if a TT bike would be an "upgrade" (as if you could somehow buy your way to speed. Hint: you can't) from your current road bike. For all the "upgrade" you (mistakenly) believe it to be, you may as well consider a Roman chariot or a Sedgeway. A frame, two wheels and a place for the pilot to sit. But that's where the similarities end. Otherwise, they're entirely different. Its not even that, they are just totally different types of machine. TT bikes are built for one purpose, straight line speed along the flat (or relative flat), they are not an upgrade to a roadbike no matter how flash they are.
OP you have had issues with the set up on your road bike, I would imagine it would take you a considerable amount of time to get a good position on a tt bike that actually made you faster, its not as simple as you think.

t ones at that. Why would you 'upgrade' a road bike to a time trial bike? That's like saying you're going to upgrade your transit van to an escort convertible...
